About us

Completely New Zealand owned and operated, FBL manages two award-winning Kiwi brands – Green Acres and Hire-A-Hubby.

Over 20+ years in business, we’ve created a nationwide network and expanded our offering across a multitude of services, from carpet cleaning through to landscaping.

We’re governed by an independent Board of Directors, each with decades of commercial and industry experience, and currently employ over 600 skilled contractors throughout the country.

Our contractors are security-checked, receive ongoing training and support, and undertake more than a million tasks per annum – resulting in sales averaging over $60 million each year.

Our Corporate Office in Auckland houses a dedicated management team of around 35 support and operations managers, responsible for liaising with our customers and supporting our contractors.

We’ve won numerous awards, including ‘Home Services Franchise System of the Year’ at the New Zealand Franchise Awards, and made several appearances in the Deloitte Fast 50.

We’re committed to electronic data processing, which makes life easier for both our contractors and our customers. Our customised job management system ‘Homebase/Xero’ enables direct communication between FBL’s Corporate Office and each of our contractors. We track jobs in real time, meaning our customers enjoy accurate, timely information and reporting. Each of our contractors has 24/7 Internet access, enabling quick and frequent sending of job requests and updates.

All our contractors are comprehensively trained – following an extensive induction course they’re given support and further instruction on an ongoing basis. They’re also security checked and OSH compliant, and FBL has public liability insurance of up to $10 million.

  • Logan Sears

    Chief Executive Officer

    Logan has been in his leadership role at FBL for over 15 years, and enjoys being directly involved with the business and its operations on a day-to-day basis.

    Logan oversees the recruitment of FBL’s contractors and staff, and likes to lead by example through his energy and passion for the business. He believes in strong business systems and structure, and has significant senior management experience in both corporate and private sector business.

  • Chris Allan

    Chief Financial Officer

    Chris has over 20 years’ experience in finance, and has been with FBL for over three years in the role of CFO.

    Chris works with our customers to ensure they achieve value for money from our services, and his responsibilities include overseeing the finance and customer services areas of the business.

  • Raewyn Cains

    Green Acres Auckland Operations Manager

    During her nine years with FBL, Raewyn has undertaken a variety of roles and responsibilities for both the Hire-A-Hubby and Green Acres brands.

    As Auckland Franchise Manager for Green Acres, she’s responsible for 210 contractors and her main focuses are support, group compliance, performance reporting, group communication, health and safety, and tradesperson retention.

  • Paul Macfarlane

    Green Acres National Franchise Support Manager

    Paul has been with Green Acres for the last 16 years. For most of this time, he worked as the Master Franchisee for Green Acres Lawn and Garden Care in Canterbury.

    Paul has won the Master Franchisee of the Year award nine times, and also taken home the prestigious Regional Master Franchise Award through the Franchise Association of New Zealand.

  • Darren Hutchinson

    Hire-A-Hubby Operations Manager

    Hutch joined the FBL group in 1999, running a Hire-A-Hubby business based in the Wairarapa.

    After achieving success in this role, he became Sales Manager for Hire-A-Hubby, overseeing almost the entire country (from Taupo to the bottom of the South Island). He then moved to Auckland and become Operations Manager for Hire-A-Hubby nationally.
