Our Westpac Ambassadors, Richie McCaw and Sir John Kirwan recently battled it out for their regions in support of the Westpac Chopper Appeal. These great New Zealand sporting icons raised an incredible $32,388.39 towards this year’s Chopper Appeal, with Richie named the winner of the inaugural Chopper Challenge.
Representing South Island Helicopter Trusts, Richie was dropped off on Mt Benmore in Canterbury and JK, representing North Island Helicopter Trusts, was dropped off on Mt Heale on Great Barrier Island. Rescue crews then put the boys through their paces and judged their Chopper Challenges, with activities like building a shelter, making a splint and demonstrating the stages of hypothermia!
Donations came through from all around the country to support the boys and raise money for New Zealand’s rescue helicopters, making a real difference for this community service. Thank you Richie and JK for your support, New Zealanders for your generosity, and to the country’s rescue crews for the incredible work you do – you’re all amazing.
And remember, you can donate to this year’s Chopper Appeal at chopperappeal.co.nz, by txting "CHOPPER" to 3181 or in any Westpac branch. Every donation makes a big difference!
