Kevin O'Sullivan

CEO, Director

Kevin is the co-founder and chief executive of Nui. He is an experienced financial markets professional with a background in brokering and foreign exchange trading. A highly motivated entrepreneur, Kevin has a deep understanding of international trading markets, combined with experience in all aspects of business leadership, people management and strategic direction. Prior to co-founding Cream Trading and establishing the Nui platform, Kevin held a number of senior leadership roles with OMFinancial and Tuatara Management Ltd.

Dr. Vladimir Managarov, PhD

Chief Technology Officer

Vladimir is responsible for the backbone of the Nui platform. His team ensures that every customer’s platform is designed and configured to support their needs. Vladimir specialises in creating complex web-solutions to successfully fulfil business needs and brings a clear view of time and resource allocation strategies. He has extensive experience in Europe and New Zealand, and prior to joining Nui held a number of senior development roles with Yellow New Zealand, Evanti and Raduga Internet. Vladimir has a PhD in mathematical modelling and programme complexes from South Ural State University.

Rebecca Swinson

Chief Operating Officer

By working closely with Nui’s customers to intimately understand their business imperatives, Rebecca and Nui’s technical team define, refine and deliver platform improvements to meet their customers’ operational requirements. Prior to joining Nui Rebecca led business transformation initiatives for a number of large organisations across a variety of business sectors including the finance, electricity, telecoms and FMCG verticals.

Monique Bertazzon

Head of Finance

Monique is an experienced Chartered Accountant with a history of working in CA practice, Financial services, Ecommerce, Media and Telecommunications industries in both New Zealand and Europe. Monique more recently worked at NZME as their Finance Manager for Operations and prior to that worked in the UK for eBay and PayPal working as their Accounting Manager and later, Finance Manager for the EU. A strong finance professional skilled in Budgeting, Forecasting, Planning, Business Partnering, Accounting and Management.

Marc O’Connor

Head of Operations

Marc has over 15 years’ experience in the commodity futures markets, having worked for commodity trading advisors (CTA’s), commodity systems traders and hedge funds in New Zealand, Australia and Switzerland.

Marc was a member of the founding team of Cream Trading as their Business Development Director, and has recently re-joined Nui Markets from a short stint working on other projects both in New Zealand and abroad.

Marc has a Bachelor of Business degree with a double major in finance and management.

Venessa Darroll

Senior Business Analyst

Venessa is a senior business analyst passionate about sustainability. She has more than 20 years’ experience in business analysis and management consulting across a wide range of businesses and project types. Venessa has a project management certification and is currently wrapping up her thesis for her master’s in Business Management and IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management.

Mike Petersen

Independent Chairman

Mike is a Hawke’s Bay based farmer and company director with a strong background in international markets and trade from his various governance roles in agribusiness.

Mike is well connected across the New Zealand farming and exporting sector and has a deep appreciation for the world of international trade, rapidly changing consumer habits, and B2B marketing models.

Mike has spent the past 6 years as New Zealand’s Special Agricultural Trade Envoy, a role which he finishes at the end of this month. In this role, Mike has travelled extensively to advocate for open markets and promote international trade.

Mike currently has independent governance roles with ANZCO Foods Limited, Kelso Genetics Limited and Totally Vets Limited. He sits on the advisory committee of Dryland Carbon and holds a cluster of directorships in farming in the East Coast region.

Dr. Bruce Maunder, PhD

Director

Bruce is a co-founder of Nui. He is an experienced entrepreneur who has overseen the design and development of many software and electronic hardware projects. Bruce has a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Auckland.

David Ross

Director

David is a chartered accountant, professional director, venture capital investor and expert forensic witness. He is the chair of KODE Biotech, Rialto Distribution and a Trustee of the NZ Arts Foundation, and has previously served on the boards of Konnect Net NZ, Lifestream International and Rex Bionics. David started the Rialto Cinemas chain and the Sky Arts channel, while co-owning Sky’s Rialto Channel, and is a noted philanthropist and supporter of New Zealand business.

Duncan Milne, MAgSc

Director

Duncan has over 40 years’ experience in the global agribusiness sector in New Zealand, Australia and the United States. He has extensive experience in commodity trading, risk management, global food sales, brand management, R&D, greenfield start-ups, M&A, restructuring and governance. Duncan is a director of NZ Dairy Goats Limited, Intergrain, and Hodder and Taylor, and was founding shareholder and a past director of Open Country Cheese Ltd.

Ian Proudfoot

Independent Advisor

Ian is the Global Head of Agribusiness at KPMG where he leads KPMG’s consumer/industrial markets and agribusiness activity, providing a wide range of audit engagements across various primary sector industries. He is a leading expert in the agricultural business sector, with a deep understanding in how technical innovation and current market forces will shape agricultural initiatives moving forward. Ian regularly provides insights into upcoming agribusiness trends for numerous international media outlets.

Paul Grave

Independent Advisor

Paul joins Nui after a 20-year career at Fonterra, where he held a wide variety of key senior leadership roles, both in New Zealand and the United States. Paul was one of the founding creators of Global Dairy Trade where he played an integral role in the radical change to the way dairy products are traded across the globe. As Director of GDT, he oversaw GDT’s sustained growth, from a start-up business in 2008 to one that trades up to USD 5 billion in dairy commodities annually. Prior to running GDT, Paul was involved in commodity sales, both as a USA based Key Account Manager and also as the Product Manager for Fonterra’s protein portfolio.

Jeppe R.S. Jøker

Senior VP of Europe

Jeppe is a strong sales professional with extensive knowledge of the European dairy trade industry and expertise in sales, logistics and primary industries. Prior to joining Nui, Jeppe was a key accounts manager at Arla Foods where he played a key role in developing and implementing the Arla Cheese online trading platform. Jeppe has a Marketing Management degree at the Business Academy in Aarhus.

Ronald K. O'Brien II

President of Nui North America

Nui Markets are pleased to announce Ronald Kevin O’Brien II as our new President of Nui North America. He is energetic and highly optimistic about furthering technology’s role within the Global Dairy Market, specifically in North America. He takes over this role with a keen understanding of what steps are necessary to integrate Nui into the daily operations of Dairy market participants.

Ron spent the last nine years developing and implementing Interfood’s risk, analytics, and derivatives mission as the company’s Global Derivatives Director & Vice President. His responsibilities included trade origination and execution, derivative value proposition development, oversight and advisory of Interfood Americas position management, and advisory to Interfood Global position committee. This reputation gave him great pride.

Ron understands breaking into new markets, and changing cultures as his expertise within financial Dairy derivatives spans 20 volatile years. Before Interfood, Ron founded and managed full-service dairy brokerage and consulting firms just as financial dairy markets rapidly developed across the globe. Regardless of what side of the table he sat on, he continued to bring innovative risk and opportunity management value propositions to stakeholders and shareholders throughout the value chain.

Ron has a finance degree from the University of Florida. He is a retired-Sergeant in the United States Marines infantry, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He married his college sweetheart Hillary, who now serves as Chief of Audiology for the University of Miami and is a fantastic father of two.

Ashley Honey

Senior Vice President, Americas

Ashley has more than 15 years' experience in commodities, foreign exchange trading and treasury risk management. Prior to joining Nui in 2018, Ashley worked on financial markets projects with some of the world's largest corporations in both New Zealand and the United States including BNP Paribas, Ball Corporation, and Barclays Capital. Ashley has an economics degree from Arizona State University. When he is not focusing on developing Nui’s strategic business partnerships across North America, Ashley is an ultra marathon runner and has competed in a number of events in the US.

Joseph Kobel

Vice President, Americas

Joe is the most recent addition to the Nui team. Joe has a rich understanding of the US dairy landscape with extensive academic and professional experience in macro speculative trading and commodity market risk. Before joining Nui, he held senior positions at Rabobank (VP, Markets, Commodities), Stable (Director, Commodity Sales), and Starbucks (Senior Treasury Analyst, FX & Commodity Risk Management). Joe’s commercial acumen and his relationships within the US dairy sector put him in an excellent position to introduce buyers and sellers of dairy in the US to Nui Markets North America.

Jonathan Spurway

Advisor

Jonathan has more than 17 years of experience in food and value add ingredients. Coming from Auckland, New Zealand, with a degree in Chemical & Materials Engineering and a Masters in Dairy Science & Technology, Jonathan started his career in the Dairy industry working for Fonterra Group Cooperative.

While at Fonterra Jonathan worked across the globe in technical and commercial capacities spending time in the Americas, North Asia, China, South East Asia and Europe.

In 2014 Jonathan, with his wife and 3 children, relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to join the leadership team of Rembrandt Foods. Jonathan headed up the Marketing, Optimization & Innovation teams for Rembrandt Foods. Rembrandt Foods is one of the largest egg ingredient companies in the world and offers egg-based proteins, lipids and nutrition products.

In early 2018 Jonathan joined the Darigold Inc. team in Seattle where he led Darigold’s Global Ingredients Business Unit, creating a fully integrated, end to end business, selling over 800m lbs of products across the global generating $1.5b in revenue and opening offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai, and Mexico City.

In May 2020 Jonathan joined Nui Markets. With his deep dairy and commodity knowledge of the US and global dairy market, he aims to advance Nui’s value proposition and bring US suppliers onto the platform that is the further of commodity transactions.

Jonathan has a passion for leadership and driving transparency. He believes that people, process, products and profitability are the path to business success.

Anthony Gosler

Broker Dairy Ingredients – Europe

Anthony joins us as the new Commercial Manager Europe. Before joining Nui Markets, Anthony's experience includes being an International trader at Ingredients Brokers International and European Commercial Manager at Bdairy, responsible for developing new markets across Europe, South East Asia & Africa.

Joanna Castellano

Marketing Coordinator

Joanna is passionate about everything digital. She started as a freelancer in the Philippines and came to New Zealand to study and pursue digital marketing. With experience in web content development, social media management, market research and developing marketing strategies, she is keen to see what the future brings for Nui.

Dion Peters

Platform Director

Dion heads the development of the back-end and infrastructure of the Nui platform and is responsible for ensuring the business logic is robustly implemented. His background is in the scoping, design and development of web-based big data software. He has had a varied career with companies specializing in mobile data technologies and GPS tracking systems. This included a technical role in the RNZN with responsibility for information and communications systems. Dion brings a wealth of experience to Nui.

Tim Van Der Hulst

Chief Technology Officer

Tim is responsible for helping define, implement, and accelerate Nui’s strategy, growth, and opportunities via Technology. He leads the technical team and ensures we are delivering best in class technology solutions in line with business objectives. His background is in Software Development and he has a strong passion for technology, mentoring, and working in a team environment. He has extensive experience working with various startups in New Zealand including Grabone, PredictHQ, and Devoli. Tim has a degree in Computing and Mathematical sciences from Waikato, New Zealand.

Alex Engelbrecht

Senior Developer

Alex joined Nui in 2016 as a full stack developer. Now specialising in front end development, Alex leads the feature development for our tender module. He enjoys a challenge and is known for implementing novel solutions. He has particular interests in AI and cyber security. Outside of Nui, Alex takes interest in maths and physics and has many technical hobbies such as electronics and robotics.

Bianca Sequeira

Quality Analyst

Bianca has a lengthy background in testing trading and banking software. She is experienced in automation testing and has a thorough understanding of SDLC. Bianca is an expert practitioner on the Nui Markets Platform and is ultimately responsible for the platform’s quality assurance. She has a B.E. in Computers and a Diploma in Business Intelligence.

Wim Mertens

Senior Brand & UI Designer

Wim is Nui’s brand and user interface designer and is in charge of developing the design and usability aspects of the platform. Wim has more than 20 years’ experience in traditional print design, digital design and front-end development. Originally from the Netherlands, he was responsible for the Dutch-e-commerce branch of Yves Rocher. Before joining Nui, Wim worked with multiple clients across Europe and Australasia, including the Human Rights Commission and the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs. He was also employed at Foster Moore International and worked on the design and development of their globally acclaimed electronic registration software.

Graham Greavett

Digital Trading Consultant Dairy

Graham's experience includes trading dairy commodities for County Milk Products, Greenfields Ireland, Brooks McRobbie, Saputo, and most recently consulting for Mintec Global, helping improve their Price Reporting Desk.

Prior to working in the dairy industry Graham worked in the pharmaceutical industry for GlaxoSmithKline, manufacturing products for phase 1 clinical trials and as a line leader in their respiratory production facility.

Graham enjoys getting his hands dirty and is a city & guild qualified baker, learning his craft with Sainsbury's supermarkets.

Ashwini Law

Head of Region APAC

Ashwini joins Nui Markets as the Head of Region of APAC.

He has over 19 years of experience in Dairy Commodities and is confident that the technology solutions Nui Markets offers are the way forward for the Global Dairy Markets.

In the approximately 5 years he spent with Darigold Inc., he led the Powders portfolio and was responsible for building direct customer access across the export markets of Asia-Pacific and MENA.

In his earlier role, Ashwini was heading the Asia-Oceania Dairy Platform for Louis Dreyfus Company and was the key lead for LDC’s JV in a Dairy Manufacturing Plant in Australia.

Prior to this, during his time with OLAM, he gained exposure to the market and sourcing operations across MENA, LATAM, and North America.

Ashwini lives in Singapore with his wife, who is an educator, and two children. His son is doing military service and his daughter is in high school.

René van 't Riet

General Manager Europe

René is a customer-focused director of people, projects, sales and business developments. He has a strong track record in software development, trading platforms, commodity trading and risk management.

He started his career in risk management and analysis systems for derivative traders, then later moved to Euronext, where he was responsible for agricultural commodities trading. From there, he worked as the regulator for financial markets in the Netherlands to supervise the markets for commodity-related investment objects. He continued his career in the financial sector with various senior commercial and business development roles. Recently René worked for a Price Reporting Agent setting up a range of dairy indices and dashboards that are now widely used for benchmarking and price reference.

All this makes René very well equipped to drive the growth of Nui Marketplace Europe further. He’s very excited to take the end responsibility to grow the number of customers, trades and volumes on the Nui Marketplace Europe platform to benefit its users further.

Oscar Tunebing

Senior Front-end Developer

Oscar joined Nui in late August 2022 as a senior front-end developer. Oscar has a keen interest in all aspects of software development, with a passion for delivering great user experiences while keeping things clear, well functioning, and easy to maintain in the background. Oscar’s programming style is concise, precise, stripped back, and fast - once referred to as "Ferrari code". Oscar is known for his dry humour and exceptional Swedish meatballs. Hobbies include free-hand drawing.

Chris Carter

Senior Python Developer

Chris joined Nui in 2022 as a Senior Python Developer, working on the Nui platform back-end. He comes from a finance and banking background in Australia, and brings a wealth of knowledge in information security as well as systems automation. In his off-time, Chris enjoys keeping his technical skills sharpened with amateur radio and his home servers he tests and develops automation tooling on.

Anand Joseph

Mobile Developer

Anand joined Nui in 2022 as a mobile app developer with 16+ years of experience, handling the development of the Nui mobile app. He is a solid mobile developer focusing heavily and extensively on native and Flutter development, passionate about develop mobile apps with AI/ML. He has a Master's in information technologies.

Rayhaan Mohammad

Junior Front-end Developer

Rayhaan is a Junior Developer responsible for automation testing, and frontend development. He has particular interests in Javascript and React. Outside of Nui, Rayhaan takes interests in fitness, music, and cars.

Rayhaan has a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Auckland.

Jigao Zeng

Junior Front-end Developer

Jigao joined Nui as a junior front-end developer. He is passionate about problem-solving with software development and enjoys learning new concepts and ideas. He has a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from the University of Auckland.
