Categories

We want you to think of your own concepts for each category but we hope that these ideas will get the creative juices flowing.

1. New Zealand's Natural Wonders

Think Auckland's volcanoes, the Tuatara, Hanmer Springs, Mount Tarawera, White Island, Fiordland National Park, Glaciers, sunsets, Tiri Tiri Matangi, the Kiwi, waterfalls and Kauri forests. These are all well known places but here's the challenge; can you provide a different perspective of these natural wonders? While we do require the shots to be suitable for commercial purposes, see if you can capture these icons during a beautiful sunrise or from an angle rarely seen. Alternatively can you unveil that natural wonder that doesn't receive the attention it deserves?

2. A Quintessential Kiwi Holiday

Think good old fashioned kiwi camping, hotel hopping, road tripping, truck stops, the bach experience, toilet stops, fly drive holidays, travelling the strait, airports and girly weekends away. This category has endless scope and really calls out to the creative photographer. Unleash your imagination, let it run straight past images of lads drinking cans around a campfire and snap that shot which screams "pure New Zealand".

3. Kiwis and their Cars

Think cars and how they form part of our everyday lives; those wonderful Kiwi motoring moments. It's pilling up your friends into your van for a road trip, taking the dog for a spin, getting underneath the bonnet, shifting the impossible or learning to drive.

4. New Zealand Landmarks

Think Auckland's Sky Tower, The Bridge to Nowhere, Hot Water Beach, The Pinnacles, Ohakune's giant carrot, Hundertwasser Toilets, Rotorua's Geyser, Mount Taranaki, Moeraki Boulders, Dunedin's Railway Station, The Beehive, New Plymouth's Coastal Walkway and the Lighthouse at Cape Reinga. Again these landmarks lend themselves to being photographed at any time of day and from a different perspective.

5. New Zealand People and Culture

Think Kiwi events, family BBQs, special moments, taking the dog for a walk, stopping for takeaways, farming and shopping. There's plenty of opportunity to capture people enjoying their favourite beach activity - from cricket to surfing or fishing. As long as you can show us a bunch of happy Kiwis enjoying all this country has to offer, then we'll be smiling too.
