By submitting one or more photographs into this competition you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

Our Reasons for Running this Photo Competition

  • The AA is passionate about inspiring you to see and enjoy New Zealand. Inspiring photographs are motivational. This is your opportunity to share your motivational photographs with others and be rewarded for it.

Timing and Deadlines

  • This competition runs from 27 April 2009 - 2 October 2009.
  • All entries must be in before 5pm, 2 October 2009.
  • The winners of each prize will be announced on this website on Monday 19 October 2009.

Eligibility for Entry

  • You must be a current New Zealand-based tertiary student (at time of entry) to enter this competition.
  • In the event that you win you will be required to prove your New Zealand student status with your student ID.
  • This competition is targeted specifically towards amateur photographers. Professional photographers may also enter providing they meet and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
  • Anyone employed by (and any immediate family member of someone employed by) NZAA (AA), or sponsors associated with the promotion is ineligible to enter.
  • You agree to take part in post-competition publicity in the event that you win.

No Entry Fees

  • There is no entry fee to enter your photographs into this competition.

Using and Storing Your Images

  • AA will store your images in our database for a maximum of three years from the competition close-off date. AA will not sell your photographs on to third parties during and after this period.
  • By submitting your photographs into this competition you are giving us your permission to use them in our various marketing materials including, but not limited to, www.aatravel.co.nz, DestinatioNZ e-newsletter, www.aamaps.co.nz, affiliated AA websites, AA Travel Guides and Publications and the AA Product Catalogue.
  • AA acknowledges the moral rights provisions of the Copyright Act 1994, including the right to be identified as the author of the work and the right to object to derogatory treatment of the work. In the event that your image is used, you will be credited with your first and last name as the photographer.
  • Any other use will be negotiated with the copyright holder and agreed to in writing.
  • We reserve the right to crop your photographs as we see fit.

Entering Requirements

  • You must follow the entry criteria detailed on the 'Entering' page of this website to be eligible for entry.
  • All photographs submitted must be taken by you within New Zealand.
  • You must provide us with accurate contact information so we can contact you if we need to or in the event that you have won the competition.
  • If your photograph contains people, logos or private property, you must have written and signed permission for the usage rights to that photograph.
    • In the instance that it contains people, you must have the permission of those pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian).
    • In the instance it contains someone's personal property you must have the permission of the property owner.
    • You must be able to supply this documentation at any time during the 3 years that we store the image, if we require it.
    • You accept full liability in the event that a complaint is made.
  • You must not have licensed or disposed of any rights in the image that would conflict with this competition.
  • Photographs must be submitted in full colour (no black and white images will be accepted).
  • Photographs must be submitted in a digital format. The photograph need not be taken with a digital camera; scans of negatives, transparencies, or photographic prints are acceptable.
  • All digital files must be a minimum of 2 megabytes (MB) and a maximum of 8 megabytes (MB) and must be in JPEG or .jpg format. The width should be less than 2000 pixels and the height should be less than 2000 pixels.
  • You may edit or enhance your photographs with a view to improving its quality but each image must maintain its natural appeal.
  • Photographs with watermarks will not be eligible for this competition.
  • You may enter as many images as you like in each category but you must not duplicate images across categories.

Prizes

  • The prizes are not transferable for cash or to another person.
  • There will be one winner awarded for each category plus one overall winner.
    • There may also be spot prizes for inspiring photographs along the way.
  • If a prize (or part of a prize) is unavailable, the sponsor, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the original prize (or that part of the prize) with an alternative prize to equal monetary value and/or specification.

Judging

  • The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The official judges will be announced at a later date.

Breach of Terms

  • Any breach of these Terms and Conditions by you will void your entry.
  • Breach of copyright will cause the disqualification of your photographs.
  • If a breach has occurred, but is discovered after the award of a prize, we may require the return of that prize.

Changes to these Terms and Conditions

  • We reserve the right to change any of these Terms and Conditions without prior notice. Changes will be posted on this website and it is your responsibility to check regularly to make sure you are aware of any updated information. Your use of the website after any changes have been made by us will be seen as acceptance of these changes.
