Bridging education and industry
The OCA Foundation Programme is a three month introductory programme for youths who are not in education, employment or training.
We offer trades training at the OCA training centre and credits earned can be applied to either the National Certificate in Building and Construction (Level 2) or the National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 2).
Trades training element
During the foundation programme students attend the OCA training centre full time for three months to develop trade skills worth 30 credits which can be applied to the National Certificate in Building and Construction (Level 2) or the National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 2).
Mentoring element
While studying a trade at OCA, students are mentored and supported throughout. OCA believes in walking alongside students and empowering them to succeed. Students receive help in an innovative and positive way to cross the bridge between school and exposure to industry, into productive jobs and careers in a trade of their choice.
Key life values and skills we focus on
OCA also includes group activities in school holidays to strengthen student relationships with mentors and other students. These activities include work experience, camps/outdoor activities, visits to community facilities, dinners and breakfast clubs along with opportunities to hear successful business people share their own experiences.
